The case "Empowering the 'Oriental HydrogenIsland' to Create a New Zero-Carbon Benchmark"was selected into “2025 Case Studies on Corporate(Industrial Park) Climate Action".
At the 30th Conference of the Parties (COP30) to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Center for Environmental Education and Communications of China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment, in collaboration with the C Team, released the “2025 Case Studies on Corporate (Industrial Park) Climate Action.” Among the cases featured was Sinopec Qingdao Refining & Chemical’s innovative practice, “Empowering the ‘Oriental Hydrogen Island’ to Create a New Zero-Carbon Benchmark.”
Sinopec Qingdao Refining & Chemical has achieved remarkable progress in hydrogen energy development, including: China’s first pilot project for seawater hydrogen production at a factory level; China’s first floating photovoltaic industrial power station in an all-seawater environment.
The company has been certified as the first “carbon-neutral” hydrogen refueling station in the country. With an annual production capacity of 2,300 tonnes of hydrogen for fuel cells, it has become the sole hydrogen supply center for fuel cells in the Jiaodong region, which has been selected for the national science and technology demonstration project of “Hydrogen into Every Household”. The company provides an exemplary model for the green and low-carbon transformation of traditional energy enterprises.
