The 20 key engineering projects of 2009 included 4 oil and gas field surface engineering projects, 14 refining and chemical engineering projects . 47 sets of refining and chemical production facilities and 4 pipeline, storage and transportation projects were completed and put into production.

Oil field surface engineering

(I) Sichuan gas to east engineering

(1) Surface gathering and transportation engineering projects: the main gathering and transportation engineering of Puguang gas field involved a total investment of 2.913 billion RMB, which include 16 gas gathering stations, 1 end-station and 1 water injection station.

(2) Purification plant: The plant’s designed capacity is 12 billion cubic meters / year; it includes 12 series of natural gas treatment facilities, and its construction scale (volume) is 12×3 million cubic meters/ day.

(3) Long-distance pipeline: The pipeline starts in Puguang in the west and ends in Shanghai in the east with the total length of 2,150 km.

(II)Yulin-Jinan natural gas pipeline engineering project

The project’s total length is 1,045 Km and designed flow is 3 billion cubic meters/ year. Puyang-Jinan section has been completed and was put into production in November 2009.

(III)Tahe oilfield Block 12 capacity building surface engineering project

Those constructed in 2009 included 4 gas and oil treatment stations, 35kv transformer station, supporting oil and gas pipeline and other utilities. By 1H of September, all of these parts had been completed and put into production.

(IV)Songnan gas field surface engineering project of 1 billion cubic meters capacity building

The upper formation of this block is rich in petroleum with accumulative proven reserve of 22.628 million tons; the lower formation is rich in natural gas with accumulative proven reserve of 43.3 billion cubic meters. Gas pipeline was completed and put into production in 2008. The other parts were put into production in October 2009.

Refining and chemical engineering projects

(I)Tahe heavy crude oil modification projects

New projects include 2.2 MTA delayed coking, 1.4 MTA gasoline and diesel hydrofining. The projects’ construction was started in March 2009, mechanical completion of all the facilities are planned to be achieved in June 2010, and commissioning of all the facilities will be completed in October 2010.

(II)Fujian refining and ethylene project

This project includes 19 sets newly built and 6 sets revamped facilities, all of which had been completed and put into production by August 2009.

(III) 1 MTA ethylene projects and supporting equipments of Tianjin Petrochemical Co., Ltd

The project includes 1 MTA newly built ethylene facility, 12.5 MTA revamped refining facility and its supporting thermal power plants and utilities. Refining engineering project was completed in December and all the facilities have produced on-spec products.

(IV)ZRCC 1 MTA ethylene project saw its mechanical completion on 28 December.

(V) Changling 10 MTA refining revamping projects

This project includes the revamping of 8 MTA atmospheric and vacuum unit, a new 2.8 MTA catalyst cracking unit, 500 thousand tons / year gas distillation unit and product refining unit as well as the revamping and newly building of their corresponding supporting and auxiliary engineer projects. The project went on smoothly.

(VI) Adaptive revamping project of Qingdao high-acid crude oil processing facility

This project newly built 4 sets of process units and revamped 3 sets of process units.

(VII) Supporting units improvement of Zhanjiang Dongxing refining facilities

The Project newly built 5 sets of units, revamped 1 set of unit and its systematic supporting engineering.

All the units were commissioned with success in September.

(VIII)7 sets of S-Zorb projects

Gaoqiao project, Jinan Project and Zhenhai project were commissioned with successful results on September 28, December 9 and December 19 respectively; Guangzhou project achieved its mechanical completion in Novemberr, Changzhou, Qilu, and Changling projects are going on smoothly.

(IX) Shanghai Petrochemical’s 600 thousand tons/ year aromatics facility was put into production in September and has produced qualified PX.

(X) Chuanwei 300 thousand tons / year acetic acid and ethylene project

The project’s construction was started in December 2008 and the project is going on smoothly.

(XI)Yangtze-BP acetic acid project

This 500 thousand acetic acid project include acetic acid facility jointly built by Yangtze Petrochemical and BP at 50:50 and the supporting CO unit exclusively funded by Yangtze Petrochemical. In December, its mechanical completion was achieved.

(XII)Yanshan Dongfang Petrochemical relocation and revamping project

The project includes 2 newly built, 4 relocated, 1 revamped projects and their supporting infrastructure and auxiliary system. The whole project has achieved its mechanical completion. EO/EG capacity expansion part and VAE had been commissioned successfully in November 2007 and November 2009 respectively.

Pipeline, storage and transportation projects

(I ) Maoming Beishanling commercial oil storage

This project included the newly building of 15 oil storage tanks, and the expansion of the capacity of the water-discharging, power supply, automatic control, communication, as well as firefights utilities base on their existing conditions. The project’s construction was started on November 1, 2009.

(II) Refined oil pipeline project

(1) Shandong-Anhui line (Phase ii) (west line)

The west line was 905 km long with designed flow of 5.9 MTA. It has 8 oil storage tanks. Its Jinan-Handan section was completed and put into production in May 2009; Shijiazhuang-Handan section was completed and put into production in December.

(2) Fujian refining and ethylene supporting pipeline (Phase One)

The total length of the pipeline is 340 km with designed flow of 6 MTA. Oil products it transports include three big categories (gasoline, diesel and jet fuel) covering five brands. North part had been basically completed and was ready for production. South part construction was close to the end.

(3) Kunming-Dali Line

Kunming-Dali line is the branch line of South West refined oil pipeline. Its total length was 328 km. It was completed and put into production in August, 2009.

(4) Liuzhou-Guilin line

Liuzhou-Guilin pipeline is a branch line of South west refined oil pipeline with the total length of 172 km and designed flow of 1.5 MTA.

(5) Jiangnan line

The total length was 397 km with 7 stations and 6 storage tanks along the line and designed flow of 3 MTA. The oil products it transports include two gasoline and diesel categories covering five brands.
