Since joining the China Lifeline Express Fund in 2004, the Group has been actively supporting the government-initiated blindness elimination and poverty relief programs by providing free treatment for cataract sufferers living in remote poor areas along railway lines.

In 2008, the Group completed its task of sponsoring Sinopec Lifeline Express to treat blindness, with 2,338 cataract sufferers in Kashgar of Xinjiang and Chuxiong of Yunnan getting treatment and resumed eyesight. The Sinopec-donated new Lifeline Express vehicle titled as “Sinopec Sunshine” was put into operation in early 2009.
