The year of 2009 witnessed the Group’s application of 1,989 patents among which 1,854 pieces were applied at home and 135 pieces were applied overseas. The Group got the authorization of 793 pieces of patents, among which 756 are domestic ones and 37 are foreign ones. Its numbers of both yearly patents application and yearly patents authorization continues to hold the leading place among central SOEs.

11 research programs of the Group in 2009 were granted the State Science and Technology Progress Awards among which the program of ”the development and commercialization of the whole set of naphtha catalytic reforming technology” won the first prize of the State Science and Technology Progress Award; the programs of “EOR technology through highly efficient binary drive”, “Development and application of drilling technology for complex structured wells in Shengli”, “Research and application of the high-speed roller bit and vibrating screen based on deep drill-string dynamic”, “Development and commercialization of non-planar fracturing technology for massively increasing the oil and gas production” “The whole set of caprolactam production process via ammoximation of cyclohexanone route”, “Research, development and application of the key technology of styrene by ethyl-benzene dehydrogenation: axial and radial flow reactor and new types of catalyst “Optimized operation technology of large sized ethylene facilities and its commercialization”, “New discharge reduction technology of waste sulfuric and alkali liquid and its application in chemical industry” “Theory, key technology and engineering application of design of heavy traffic asphalt pavement” “Measuring technology of rheological behavior of non-Newtonian fluids and its application” won second prizes of the State Science and Technology Progress Awards.
